Done Means Really Done
Jovie: I was betrayed by my husband in 2023, when he had an affair with one of his subordinates at work. At first, I was choosing to ignore the rumor because I got to know about it from someone at his workplace. There was growing tension between us after confronting him with the rumor, hoping he would come to his senses. But any time I confronted him, he denied that anything was happening and didn’t feel that he was doing anything wrong.
But then, the other woman became pregnant with my husband’s child. At that point, I could no longer ignore the level of betrayal. I went to his workplace to confront both my husband and his side thing, expecting him to be remorseful but he told me point blank that he was no longer in love with me and had chosen a new life with his pretty young thing. To quote him right, “If I really loved you, I would not be with her”.
I lost my place in my own home because he moved the other woman to our guest room. I later got to find out that was his plan all along. He took drinks to her family house and she indirectly, became his second wife. She bore him a son. My husband and I only have daughters together. He’s always wanted a son, and she solidified her place in our home while I was forced to carve out a new life on my own. I didn’t plan on leaving but I came home one weekend to find them having sex in our matrimonial bed. That was the last straw for me.
David, I did not waste any time trying to destroy my husband. I simply walked away with my dignity, bided my time after the separation, and later filed for divorce. A year and a half after separating from them, his son died. He apparently found out he wasn’t the child’s biological father after all. He may have won a younger, seductive girl, but I won back my rightful place in my own life and became the victor and ruler of my peace of mind.
My husband all of a sudden doesn’t want to go through with the divorce. He’s been apologizing in court and telling his parents and siblings to beg me to reconsider.
David Bondze-Mbir (DBM): Reconsider what?
Jovie: That is exactly what I asked them. After all the cruelty they were still okay with him twisting the knife deeper in me just to see me broken.
DBM: Do not put value in a man who does not put value on you.
Jovie: David, you don’t need to tell me. I’m a follower of your Facebook platform and I have been reading all the stories you’ve been sharing. I am done with him.
DBM: Do you work?
Jovie: Yes
DBM: Good! Hire a forensic accountant to ensure your husband has not diverted funds. Most men tend to hide properties and funds when they’re rocked by divorce. I’m a man, and I am telling you that – there’s nothing brand new your husband can tell you today that will make everything he’s intentionally done to you and your marriage any better. Forgiveness you can grant him, but do not trust anything he says to you anyway.
